Coastal Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Orthopedic Physical Therapist to join our team in Brookhaven, New York. Work Environment
This position is based onsite at our state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility in Brookhaven, NY. The facility is equipped with advanced rehabilitation tools and technologies designed to optimize patient outcomes. The work schedule involves a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, providing a structured yet dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct physical therapy treatment by developing comprehensive treatment plans designed to prevent disabilities, relieve pain, and enhance or restore muscle function while integrating the patient's capabilities into their care plan.
- Supervise and mentor Physical Therapy Assistants, ensuring the effective implementation of treatment protocols and adherence to best practices.
- Conduct thorough evaluations using diagnostic tests to assess clients' physical abilities, including muscle, nerve, and joint function.
- Assess patients' home environments and recommend strategies for enhancing their independence and safety during rehabilitation.
- Provide prescribed physical therapy services in the home, following physician guidelines and ensuring care continuity.
- Administer manual therapies, recommend therapeutic exercises, and guide clients in both manual and non-manual activities.
- Utilize various therapeutic modalities such as traction and massage, and manage the application of physical agents according to patient needs.
- Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices, making recommendations to physicians for modifications when necessary.
- Participate in the development and continuous updating of care plans, ensuring they reflect the evolving needs of patients.
- Document clinical records comprehensively, including initial evaluations, care plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during case conferences to discuss treatment efficacy and patient progress, facilitating an integrated approach to patient care.
- Engage with patients and their families, providing education and support surrounding treatment plans and equipment usage.
- Respond to all administrative tasks promptly, including submitting necessary orders and documentation in alignment with branch policies.
- Conduct on-site functional assessments, reviewing care plans regularly to address the needs and resources available to clients.
- Complete additional tasks as required to meet the organization's goals and objectives.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The patients you will serve primarily include orthopedic cases requiring rehabilitation following surgery, injury, or degenerative conditions. You will work with individuals of varying ages who require tailored therapeutic interventions aimed at maximizing their functional potential and enhancing their quality of life. Your role will significantly influence their recovery journey through a personalized approach to physical therapy, addressing both physical and emotional needs.
Qualifications
- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
- Current physical therapy licensure in the state of New York is required to practice.
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience in physical therapy, ideally in acute or home care settings.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory for maintaining patient safety.
- Valid driver's license with automobile insurance to facilitate travel for home care services.
- A strong commitment to clinical excellence, quality assurance, and patient-centered care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in orthopedic rehabilitation and hands-on therapy techniques is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems to enhance documentation efficiency.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills, particularly in supervising Physical Therapy Assistants.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a competitive salary range between USD 50,000 and 80,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
